Old-school 'Mexico'
God, I feel...crotchety and haglike, saying that. But yeah, no supernatural stuff, no crossovers, no psychic!El. Just them and their mutualviolent-angst issues.

Got Will Turner fic-a-thon challenge info, and have 10 more pages of Sword III to do. Also chem studying, origfic to write and a million other things that I couldn't get to because the parents were in town (but hey, they fed me plenty, so I can probably avoid the dorm food for the rest of the week).

Too, too busy. [info]bwinter, I will get back to you soon. [info]the_dala, I'll read 'For Want of a Nail' soon. I promise. But first, finish bloody pirates.

Crap. I need a Barbossa muse now. Must reread [info]viva_gloria and [info]copper_rose. And listen to new Juno Reactor CD.

***

El woke up with a gun in his mouth.

At the other end, one shaking American gripped and regripped the pistol. Sands was blanched to transparency, all his layers stripped off so El could stare through him to the old bloodstains on the far wall. “Would you kill me?” Sands demanded in a splintering voice. “If I went out and slaughtered all those Alzheimer-loving shit friends of yours, if I spit on Carolina’s grave, if I sold you out to your worst enemy—would you kill me?”

Hard to answer with steel stroking the tongue.

“But that’s not really the question, is it? The question, El, is whether there would be an afterward. Because damn it, but you’re just like those fucking cockroaches that survive hail and rain and Godfucking apocalypses. You get right back up and you go for a stroll in Nancy Sinatra’s boots.” Sands’ mouth twisted, jerked itself into position for another breathful of insults, but El whipped the edge of his hand into it. Backhanded the other man again and spit out the gun, then wrenched it away and flung it across the room. He grabbed Sands’ wrists as the American tried to jump off the bed and yanked them up behind Sands so they were pressed together with no room to hide.

“Ow—let go, damn you. Let—” Sands hissed and tried to snap into El’s neck.

“If I let go, you’ll kill me,” El pointed out. “If I leave, you’ll kill me.”

Anger and realization crumpled Sands into a dangling heap of wired limbs. “You never do get it, do you? I wanted to be someone. To matter.”

“And I never wanted to be anyone, but I am.” El flicked handcuffs out of his sleeve along with gun and wrapped silver around the blackheaded devil in his lap. He forced Sands’ chin back with the pistol and held it there till the other man finally began to calm down. //Fucker. You’re a goddamned nightmare to live with. You’re my worst fucking nightmare now—is that good enough for you?//

Hysteria and rage seeped out of Sands, slowly turning him soft and yielding and too fucking. Tempting. “Yeah, that’s enough,” he murmured, swaying toward El. And damn everything to hell—El came forward to meet him.

Thank you. Love/hate is more or less how I see any Sands/El relationship beginning as.

Well, not today, but later? We'll see. I currently have too many other fic pots on the stove.

And now, I can't properly write about Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem "Hendecasyllabics".

God, I remember the nasty days of poetry analysis; nice thing about college is that I can sidestep that if I want. Much sympathy your way, and thanks.

Incidentally, would it help to know that Tennyson might have been gay?

Ah yes, I forgot to mention. In honor of you and your fab stories, I have named my newest cat Sands - though he may get called Shelly from time to time (blush) I just trapped him today - two messed up frost bit ears, a bloody eye and a burned face - which the vet says were probalby intentional (wishing heartily for a gun). He is about threeish and will, in my humble opinion, be near as studly as Johnny Depp when he heals. Though I don't think Johnny would appreciated the ummm neutered part - he got that today too. :-)

He is a grey tabby with green eyes with the tips off both ears missing. His whiskers on one side are kind of curled from the fire damage. And he has this red swipe ala Sands under one eye. But I still think he is cute . . .

I just don't understand how you can come up with such wonderful stuff. I think some muses must have a crush on you or something :-) I loved this ficlet. My favorite part would have to be Sands' mention of Nancy Sinatra or when he points out that El and him both got the opposite of what they wanted. And yay, more gunkink!

By the way, have you seen Secret Window yet? I saw it friday and posted about it in my LJ, and I'm looking for someone to talk about it with. My family's already fed up with hearing about it *grin*

Thanks. More like the muses have found a feeble-minded ghostwriter whose strings they can pull, but hey. Fic is good. For some reason, I can v. easily picture Sands listening to Nancy Sinatra.

Unfortunately, I have no car and the three theaters within walking distance are all art-house cinemas. Meaning they don't play 'Secret Window,' so I probably won't have a chance to see it till it comes out on DVD. Meh.

I cannot express my awe at yourr ability to juggle your seemingly hectic life and your never-ending stream of beautiful yummy fics. I'm just finishing up high school but I feel like tearing out my hair between homework and muses.

I love how Sands and El could be killing each other but still manage to have that something connecting them, probably into hell and back. It seems so much more real than fluffy sugar-coated love stories.

Exactly my pov on them. They know each other too well--it'd be like killing themselves. And it makes the power-dynamics shifty-fun.

Heh, no worries. I have a folder of stuff I need to read, and the second and third bits of "Fairy Tale" are at the top -- although I admit I skipped to the end to catch the Jack/James dreamsex :)

I finally have TIME -- although how I managed to get four (five? don't remember) chapters done during midterms, it's best not to ponder. Reading other people's fic made me feel even more guilty than writing my own did.

Lovely and intense. Giggled madly over Nancy Sinatra's boots and had to fend off an image of El in white knee boots with the little fringes. And heels. Disturbing.

All for old-style 'Mexico'. Loved Restraint. The 'Party' series is a favourite too. It's probably the closest to strict canon, I think. Well, minus the yummy slashiness, of course, which WOULD be canon in a happier, pervier world. I'd love to see another cross-over of the Party/Game 'verses ...

Damn. ::looks at plot bunny:: Okay, it's the casserole dish for you, boyo! Where's the sherry?

*clutches mariachi...um, protectively*

He looks cool just how he is.

All for old-style 'Mexico'

I've been messing with PotC, doing canonlike and AU stuff, and now that I'm mostly done there, I'll probably do the same to 'Mexico.' Feel the urge to go back to my roots, but the prospect of messing with 'From Hell' is too good to get out of now. And 'Game' is by no means closed, but 'Party'? Hmmm...
